Filter:Scale respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you visit our site (regardless of where you visit it from).

Our Services are not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children. Please also use the Glossary to understand the meaning of some of the terms used in this privacy policy.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information to provide better services to all of our users. The information we collect will range from figuring out basic stuff like your preferred language and your location to more complex things like which advertisements you will find useful.

We collect information in the following ways:

We use various technologies to determine location, including IP address, GPS, and other sensors that may, for example, provide Filter:Scale with information on nearby devices, Wi-Fi access points and cell towers.
  • ♣ Local storage information. We may collect and store information (including personal information) locally on your device using mechanisms such as browser web storage and application data caches.
  • ♣ Log information. When you use our services or view content provided by Filter:Scale, we automatically collect and store certain information in server logs. This includes, but not limited to: Internet protocol address, device event information such as crashes, system activity, hardware settings, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and referral URL.

We also collect, use and share Aggregated Data such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. Aggregated Data may be derived from your personal data but is not considered personal data in law as this data does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. For example, we may aggregate your Usage Data to calculate the percentage of users accessing a specific site feature. However, if we combine or connect Aggregated Data with your personal data so that it can directly or indirectly identify you, we treat the combined data as personal data which will be used in accordance with this privacy policy.

We do not collect any Special Categories of Personal Data about you this includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, information about your health and genetic and biometric data. Nor do we collect any information about criminal convictions and offences.

Where we need to collect personal data by law or under the terms of our site, we have with you and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to provide certain services on our site.

Our site uses cookies. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we put on your computer if you agree.   • Adjust how the Profile associated with your Account appears to others.
  • Control who you share information with through our Services.
  • Take information associated with you out of many of our services.
  • Choose whether your Profile name and Profile photo appear in shared endorsements that appear in ads.

You may also set your browser to block all cookies, including cookies associated with our services, or to indicate when a cookie is being set by us. However, it’s important to remember that many of our services may not function properly if your cookies are disabled.

INFORMATION THAT YOU SHARE

Our Services may let you share information with others. Remember that when you share information publicly, it may be indexable by other search engines.

YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Whenever you use our Services, we aim to provide you with access to your personal information. If that information is wrong, we strive to give you ways to update it quickly or to delete it, unless we have to keep that information for legitimate interest or legal purposes.

We aim to maintain our services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, after you delete information from our services, we may not immediately delete residual copies from our active servers and may not remove information from our backup systems.

We have put in place a Data Subject Access Request Procedure and under certain circumstances, you have the following rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data:

  • Request correction of your personal data.
  • Request erasure of your personal data.
  • Object to processing of your personal data.
  • Request restriction of processing your personal data.
  • Request transfer of your personal data
  • Right to withdraw consent.

You have the right to make a complaint at any time to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues (www.ico.org.uk). We would, however, appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach the ICO so please contact us in the first instance.

INFORMATION SECURITY

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We may have to share your personal information with the parties set out below for the purposes set out in the table in paragraph ii above.

  • Internal Third Parties as set out in the Glossary.
  • External Third Parties as set out in the Glossary.
  • Third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer, or merge parts of our business or our assets. Alternatively, we may seek to acquire other businesses or merge with them. If a change happens to our business, then the new owners may use your personal data in the same way as set out in this privacy policy.

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

Where you discover a data breach, you must report any breach within Seventy Two (72) hours of discovery by filing our Personal Data Security Breach Report Form

REGULATORY AUTHORITIES

We regularly review our regulatory compliance. In particular, we are compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation ((EU) 2016/679) (GDPR). We also adhere to several self-regulatory frameworks, including the EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield Frameworks. When we receive formal written complaints, we will contact the person who made the complaint to follow up. We work with the appropriate regulatory authorities, including local data protection authorities, to resolve any complaints regarding the transfer of personal data that we cannot resolve with our users directly.

Whenever we transfer your personal data out of the EEA, we ensure a similar degree of protection is afforded to it by ensuring at least one of the following safeguards is implemented:

CHANGES

Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent. We will post any privacy policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, email notification of privacy policy changes). We will also keep prior versions of this Privacy Policy in an archive for your review.

GLOSSARY

“Legitimate interest” means the interest of our business in conducting and managing our business to enable us to give you the best service/product and the best and most secure experience. We make sure we consider and balance any potential impact on you (both positive and negative) and your rights before we process your personal data for our legitimate interests. We do not use your personal data for activities where our interests are overridden by the impact on you (unless we have your consent or are otherwise required or permitted to by law). You can obtain further information about how we assess our legitimate interests against any potential impact on you in respect of specific activities by contacting us.

“Performance of contract” means processing your data in order to provide you with service.

“Comply with a legal or regulatory obligation” means processing your personal data where it is necessary for compliance with a legal or regulatory obligation that we are subject to.

“Internal third parties” mean other entities related or affiliated to Filter:Scale within and outside the United Kingdom and provide IT and system administration services and undertake any administrative or leadership roles.

“External third parties” mean:

  • Service providers who provide [IT and system administration services.
  • Professional advisers including lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers who provide consultancy, banking, legal, insurance and accounting services.
  • HM Revenue & Customs, regulators and other authorities based within or outside the United Kingdom who require reporting of processing activities in certain circumstances.
  • Any other third parties, for example, market researchers, fraud prevention agencies, price comparison sites etc.
